Well its the 1st of the month and there will be some changes around the place. Firstly, and sadly, I will no longer be a Stampin Up Demonstrator :( Its been a wonderful 2 years but for me and our family now, this is the right move to make. What will that mean for this blog? I will still be posting creative stuff, probably directed more towards scrapbooking again, Project Life, One Little Word (more on both of these projects later the month) and anything else that stirs up my creative juices.

To make some room around the place, I am selling off LOTS and LOTS of my stamps and crafting supplies. I just can't use them all, and really how many butterfly stamps can one girl have, right? (i've lost count of how many I have) The best place to see all of my 'stuff' is HERE. If you'd prefer you can also use the tabs just below my blog header at the top of the page. Just a quick run down of some of the items I have for sale

How I Store and Organise My Stampin Up Cardstock

I have tried a few different ways to store my card stock and this is what works for me, right now. Organising for me is all about colour, I organise most of my supplies by colour. For me, that's what works when I'm creating. I wanted to share with you how I organise my Stampin Up card stock. I have had these photos for at least 6 months, but just found them again when I was backing up my photos. Sorry for the delay :)

I hold all my Stampin Up card stock in a combination of these boxes and an altered version of these expanding files. Three of the file folders fit into a box, which each file having enough spaces for 2 colour families with a few spots left over.

This is how I have made it work for me. I cut the front flap off the folders and then removed the clip that was remaining on the front. (HINT - the craft rubber scissors worked a dream for this). I did originally just have the front flap bent backwards so it sat at the back of the folder, but it became a little bulky so off it came.

I love how the colours look all fanned out like this :) Happy days!

There are 3 separate folders in the box which works perfect for me. I have the Neutrals and Regals in one folder, Brights and Subtles in another and I will have the In-Colours and Specialty Papers (like the shimmery, glossy vellum etc) in another. But once they are all in the box, it looks like one complete folder.

Another thing I have recently added to each colour slot is an A4 clear envelope for all the scraps I end up with. This way if I only need a small piece to punch out a shape or stamp a small image, I can pull out the envelope without little bits going everywhere or searching at the bottom of the slot for the perfect piece. This way I waste less by not having to cut up an entire sheet for something I could have just used a scrap piece for.

The box forms part of my larger storage area (you can see a picture from my old house here) which my husband made for me :)

Elements Of Style

Here's a card I put together using some FABULOUS new products. I'd been hanging out to use the new scallop punch and the embossing folder, and I just LOVE how they look.

I've also used a stamp from the Elements of Style set. Here I've stamped the image in Crumb Cake (Kraft) and then used the chocolate chip marker to outline the design. You can see how much of a difference it makes. You see I wanted a darker image, but not as dark as chocolate chip. Here, I get the best of both worlds :)

A Case Of The CASE

So my ever so LOVELY upline, MARELLE, sent meTHIS CARD a couple of weeks back and absolutely LOVED it as soon as I saw it. I knew this was one I HAD to make for myself. I loved the Bella Toile background stamp she had used but dont have it yet (and yes its on the wish list...towards the top of a very long list lol). But thats what great about CASE-ing a card, you can just substitute what you DO have on hand. For me, the next best thing was to use the flower image from the Elements of Style.

I changed the greeting to a set I do have and some cardstock that I had plenty of and TA DA...we have a card!

I also have been selling off a lot of my retired stamp sets, inks etc so this is the card that I sent with the goodies. So you may have already recieved one of these in the mail :) And if you haven't consider this your e-thank you card for supporting my blog :)

Blog Hop Gift Box Tutorial

After the recent BLOG HOP, I had several people ask me how to make the gift box for the set of cards I made. This is what we are talking about

So, here is a quick and basic tutorial of how i put mine together

This box is suited to fit nine 3 inch x 3 inch (7cm x 7cm) cards and nine slightly bigger envelopes. You will need to adjust the sizes to suit your own project.

Firstly you will need a piece of card stock measuring 8.5 inches x 3.5 inches (approx 21.5cm x9cm), a piece measuring 18cm x 3.5 cm (approx 7 1/8 inch x 1.5 inch) and another measuring 12cm x 7cm (4 3/4inch x 2 3/4 inch)

With the largest piece, score it in landscape orientation at 3.5 inches and 5 inches (9cm x 12.7cm) and fold over the score lines. This is the base of the holder. Then place aside.

Next take the 12x7cm piece and score around all edges at 2cm.

you will need to make 4 cuts, 2 on each end, up to the score marks. Also add some adhesive, Im using sticky strip, to the 4 corners.

next you will fold the corners with the adhesive towards the centre and stick them to the remaining flap

Do this to both ends and now you should have a little box.

Next, add some more adhesive to one side of the box and stick to the base of the card

now to make the envelope band, I score it at about 2.5 inches from each end and then about 1/2cm back from each of the score lines

Then fold all the score lines and add some adhesive to opposite ends and sides, see below

Then folds ends towards the centre to create a band

Now to stick it to the card base. Add some adhesive to the sides where the seam meet. To help get it in the centre and make sure your envelopes dont hang over the sides, slide the envelopes into the band and then stick to the card base

and finally for the pen/pencil holder simply roll a pencil around some cardstock, but make sure you put some adhesive on the end, unlike my first attempt lol

Cut off the extra, and cut to desired length, add some adhesive to the back and presto, you have a pen holder.

The Set I'm using today is called 'Cute By The Inch'. Its includes 9 stamps and is one of the Level 2 Hostess Sets that you can earn for FREE. Who doesn't love FREE? To show you how great this set is, I've created a small wallet to hold nine 3x3 inch cards and their co-coordinating envelopes. Since there are so many, I've kept the design very simple.

As I mentioned, I stamped all the envelopes in the coordinating colours and the sanded design in the background of the cards.

With most of the work already done for you by the Sizzix embossing folder, you just need to choose you colour card stock and ribbon. I'm using Kiwi Kiss because I love the satin ribbon.

I've used the 'Mr & Mrs' tag from the new Tiny Tags set and then used the jewelry tag punch to punch it out. Simple, elegant and quick......what more could you want :)

Using What You Have

With the new catalogue arriving next month, I've got plenty of scraps of patterned paper to use up. This card is perfect for those scraps you have laying around. And you don't have to use circles, use whatever punch shape you have. I just happen to have a little thing for circles :)

To let the colours do all the work, I've layered Kraft card stock on Kraft card base. I was going to run the card through the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder but decided to keep it clean and simple. I've added 'Clean and Simple' as a new topic you can search by (on the right hand side bar), so I will be going back through my cards and re-tagging them all so you can find them more simply.

I used some dimensionals to raise up the Kraft card stockand then used two dimensionals to raise the Thank You greeting up higer. It also uses a retiring stamps set, Lovely Labels and Close to Cocoa ink which is also retiring.

Because Nice Matters

I need some help with this card

When making the card, I originally used the big chocolate button from the Late Designer Button pack to tie in with the Chocolate Chip card stock, Double Stitched Chocolate Chip Ribbon and Chocolate Chip Ink I was using. BUT.......the the other pretty buttons caught my eye and this is what happened

I added a smaller Pink Pirouette flower button which I quite liked, as it toned down the Chocolate Chip button a bit. THEN......

I decided that If the small pink button looked good, then why not have a 3 buttons the same. You seeI like straight lines, things matching and organised...a little OCD sometimes lol. BUT THEN.....

I added some linen thread to the centre button just to add a bit of something (I'm still trying to work out what that something is lol), but I'm not too sure its working for me. SO......

I decided, why not use the same type of button, but in a darker colour, so the Riding Hood Red button made an apperance, and I like this too because in my scrap room, this is the accent colour. AND THEN....

I figured just try another colour just for the sake of changing it for a fourth time, and Baja Breeze made an appearance, which again, I like too! Whats a girl to do?

Monochromatic Monday Is Back!

It's been a little while since I've put up a monochromatic card, but here it is!

The colour of the card is Kiwi Kiss, I'll be sad to see it retired at the end of August so I'm using it as much as I can between now and then.

Most of my Monochromatic cards are quite simple, this is no different. I think what makes an interesting monochromatic card is the use of texture

I've used the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder for the bottom part of the card and very lightly rubbed Kiwi Kiss ink over the raised dots to give them a bit more depth. I've also added a rhinestone brad from the pretties kit and stuck it onto on of the Hodge Podge pieces to add a bit of sparkle to the card.

Just another quick one for you today

I love this stamp set. This is very easy to re-create. Cut 3 separate pieces of card stock, and temporarily adhere them side by side on another piece of card stock. Ink the Medallion stamp in versamark, or your colour of choice and in over card stock. Then assemble. This is a great card if you need one in a pinch.

Another Medallion

The Stamp Set Challenge for the Elite Challenge Blog is the Medallion stamp. You can find the Medallion stamp set in the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue and I'm finding it so versatile to work with. There are so many different techniques you can use, and achieve so many different looks.

I've stamped the whole image in So Saffron, then used a sponge to ink the edges with Pumpkin Pie. I also used the Pumpkin Pie Marker to colour the centre before punching it out with the 1 3/8" circle.

I've layered a white circle under the original punched out circle with some dimensionals, and I've added more dimensionals under the orange circle. Just as an extra touch, I've added a flower and half pearl from the Pretties Kit. To get the greeting so white on the ribbon, I have used white embossing powder.

A Colour Renovation - Time For A Change

Big News from camp Stampin Up......The Colour Families we have all come to love are being renovated. What will that mean exactly? We'll be loosing some....(ok 30 to be exact).....of the old colours but we'll be receiving some exciting new ones. You can see the entire new Colour Collections below or you can CLICK HERE to view the PDF format

Here are all the retiring colours, or you can CLICK HERE to view the PDF format

All the current colours will be hanging around until August 31, which will be the last day of the current catalogue, so you can still order them up until then. The new colours will be available from September 1, 2010 (the day the new Idea and Catalogue is released).

Stampin Up have also reviewed the way In-Colours are released, and its all good news! Each year there will be a new set of 5 In-Colours, but instead of just being around for that catalogue year, they will hang around for 2 years!!! So after this new catalogue is released, in the 2011-2012 we will have 10 In-Colours to support the 4 main colour collections; the 5 from the new catalogue as well as 5 new ones. For a sneak peak of the new In-Colours we will see in Septermber, these are the names:

Concord Crush
Peach Parfait
Pear Pizzaz
Poppy Parade

I haven't seen them yet, so your guess is as good as mine.

More New Products

There is such variety in the new Mini Catalogue that its hard to know what to use first. I love the shape of the Top Note Die, and can't wait to use it on some more projects.

I'm using the one of the new In-Colours, Rich Razzleberry, and any of you who are Purple lovers out there, will LOVE this colour. It's very easy to use!

I've cut out all of the smaller flowers and leaves and stuck them directly to the Whisper White card stock, while I added some dimensionals to the larger flower to raise it up. I've also raised up the Top Note just for a bit of interest. I've stamped the vine from the Vintage Vogue Stamp set on the Rich Razzleberry card stock, although I think next time I would use a lighter card base, perhaps Pale Plum for this card.

A Sketch Challenge

Well my little family is harbouring germs at the moment....STEER CLEAR..... and have been for the last week and a half. So apart from using about 10 boxes of tissues, not much has been happening around here, hence the lack of posts....Sorry!

Wanting to get something done, I was inspired by my upline MARELLE to go back and complete some of the challenges from the Elite Challenge Blog. It was a no brainer really. The sketch was already there for me, I just needed to choose the colours. You can find the Sketch Challenge HERE. And this is what I came up with.....

I've used a stamp set from the new autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue, its called Vintage Vogue, and it my equal favourite with the Medallion Stamp.

I stamped an extra 'F', cut it out and mounted it on foam dimensionals to give it a 3D effect. I've also added a few of the dimensionals to the white circle, to raise it above the So Saffron coloured circle. You may not be able to tell from the photo, but the vines around the edge of the card have been clear embossed and the white straight piece of card stock has been through the crimper.

My New Favourite Stamp

I was hoping and praying that we might see the Medallion background stamp in one of the Australian Stampin Up Catalogues. I have loved this stamp since seeing it in the USA Stampin Up Catalogue. There are so many different techniques I want to try with this stamp....just a warning.......you'll be seeing more of this stamp.

I decided to start out simple and just emboss the image in silver embossing powder onto some of the Designer Series Paper (DSP). I chose these colours as it's basically the way I am feeling today.....not very colourful. I'm getting the flu and didn't want to be making to many decisions about colour. Monochromatic cards are good for days like this.

You might notice that there is no greeting on the card...did I forget? No, I've decided that I will stamp the greeting once I have an occasion to use it, that way I can personalise it the way I want. I will probably either use white or black embossing powder for whatever sentiment I do end up using.

Since I cut the image in half, I still had another half so I just put another co-coordinating card together. I have used the jumbo eyelts in pewter on both cards, but on the first card, I have added a clear rhinestone brad to the middle and on the second one I have used a half pearl from the pretties kit.

Are Your Roses Blooming?

I was inspired by my own blooming roses to make a card using this rose image from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set by Stampin Up. And since I was in the mood for a little creativity, I water coloured the image.

But this card is not your average card, once you open it, it becomes an easel card, standing up all by itself.

I have used the small grommets to keep the card front standing up, but you could use another layer of cardstock, a ribbon, pearls, brads, anything really.

The great thing about this card is that you can close if flat for easy postage, but your recipient gets the full advantage of being able to see the whole card one they open it. There's still lots of room for you to write a personal messgae above the black circle grommets.

My Favourite Sympathy Set

It never a great time when you have to send out a sympathy card. There are occasions when we need to unexpectedly let someone know we are thinking of them and this set makes it very easy for you. My favourite set for sympathy cards is the Thoughts & Prayers set. This is the card I made for someone this week.

I have used the markers to randomly colour the leaves in some Chocolate Chip and Close to Cocoa. I used the Circle Scissors in the current Mini Catalogue to create the layered circles. The 2 circles are actually both cut from Very Vanilla cardstock. The reason why the smaller circle has a different colour is that I have used the Sponge Daubers with the Pastels to blend the Chocolate Chip and Creamy Caramel Colour on the inner circle

I have also used 3 of the Jumbo Grommets on the bottom of the card. If you have never used them before, here's a quick tutorial on how to use them.

Place the paper you want your grommets attached to on top of a foam surface. Im using the setting mat from the Mat Pack Stampin Up sell. Then place your grommet in where you want it.

Push down until all the prongs at the back have pierced through the paper.

Flip your paper over and use your bone folder, or something similar to squash down the prongs. And that's it!

This is the jumbo set I used.

.......And We're Back....Again

After a bit of a hiatus, you should be seeing more regular posts on the blog. It been a busy few month over at our household. We had Christmas, New Years, my birthday, my daughters birthday, our wedding anniversary, work, some domain name issues and just life in general in-between. And it was also my 1 year anniversary for joining Stampin Up! I made it a whole year and still love it. I also have to admit, I definitely lost my mojo for anything stamping, scrapbooking or crafty in general over the Christmas break. My solution.......just go with the flow. I think the break definitely put a few things in perspective. I don't feel obligated to get certain things done or have things a certain way. My creative juices are slowing returning, but I also found that being inspired by other people's work definitely helped me with getting motivation back.

One of the projects I have been wanting to do, is a Icy Pole card. Perhaps better know as a Popsicle or Ice Block depending on where you live. I think here in Australia, we are just about done with the warm weather, so before it completely disappears I wanted to get it up on my blog. We are an 'Icy Pole' kind of family, and I don't think my daughter could live without them. You wouldn't believe the amount of time that it DOESN'T take to make this card.

This one measure 9cm x 14cm then folded in half. I then rounded the corners and took the bite mark out with the scallop circle punch. I have used the Strawberry from the Tart and Tangy stamp set and used the markers to colour. Add a stick to the back and there you have it. These would make a great summer pool party invite, or birthday invitation too. These are the other stamps you get in the set.

Haitian Relief Update

HAITI Disaster Relief

On 12 January, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, leaving in its wake devastation so overwhelming that the Haitian people and their leaders can only look for help from the outside to cope. In the past, when terrorists attacked the Twin Towers, when a tsunami struck Indonesia, when a hurricane destroyed New Orleans, and when wildfires ravaged Australia, Stampin' Up! demonstrators stepped forward and showed their commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. This time is no different.

From now until 28 February, 2010, you can partner with Stampin' Up! to make a difference in the lives of those who continue to suffer from the effects of this devastating earthquake.
Stampin' Up! will set aside $2 from the sale of every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set and donate that money to the American Red Cross' Haiti Relief and Development Fund. Well it's been almost a month since I've been here to share anything. Wow, does time fly! Lets see... there's been Christmas, New Years, I've gone back to work, celebrated a birthday and all the other everyday stuff in bewtween. I feel like I need a holiday already!

12 Cards Of Christmas - Card 12

Finally, this is the last of the Christmas cards this year. I hope you have enjoyed them!

You can't see very well from this angle, but the December 25 square has a dimensional under the white scallop square and than another one under the actual Baja Breeze December 25 Square. I was originally going to use 5 different pieces of paper for the squares, but it was just convenient to use the same one (me just being lazy lol)

I've used some of the products from the Pretties kit to make this a little more elegant.

I will be taking some time off from my blog until the New year. I'll be spending time with family and recharging my batteries. I wish you all the best for the Christmas season and the New Year. Be Safe and I'll see you all Next Year! (I may pop in with some un-craft related posts between now and then).

You don't need to make them specifically Christmas related, perhaps just use their favourite colour, something to suit their home decor, or a theme that they like. Wrap it up in some clear cellophane, add some co-ordinating ribbon and you're ready to go!

Today's card I wanted to create a Christmas Bauble using the new Sweet Treat cups. I've used the Baroque Motifs at the 'leaves' up the top and used the flowers to add a bit more colour. Speaking of colour, I'm using Always Artichoke and Ruby Red. Can you believe this is the first time I have use this green! I usually grab Old Olive or Kiwi Kiss if I'm using green, but like the darker depth the Artichoke has.

12 Cards Of Christmas - Day 9

I had planned to show you how to make this as part of DAY 5's CARD HERE, but ran out of time, So it gets its own day, TODAY!
These are called Sunny Boy containers here in Australia, but others may know them as Sour Cream container. And here's to make one!

I am using a 6 inch x 6 inch, approximately 15cm x 15cm square of transparency. You can get this from your local office supplies shop, look for overhead projector film. You can also use paper, or cardstock. I'm using a transparency sheet so that it matched the card I made on day 5.

I'm going to be embossing on the sheet, and I cant stress enough....... you will need to use an embossing buddy (Stampin Up sells them) to wipe over your sheet. This will stop any static, and stop any stray bits of embossing powder from sticking to your sheet.
Next, take your Versamark ink and stamp the images you want on it. I'm using images from the Snow Swirled set. You can barely see them, but they're there. Now, I'm also going to use Dazzling Diamonds, so I'll be using the Heat and Stick Powder first.
My preference, and this is just personal preference....do what works for you.....Since my whole sheet has some ink on it, I like to pour a decent line of the embossing powder, in this case Heat and Stick Powder, across the top of the page. Then tilt my sheet and let the powder fall downwards. I find I get a good coverage this way. you can always touch up the small bits that get missed.
Once the whole sheet is covered, in your powder, make sure you heat gun is plugged in....I find that handy (note to self). Because you need to only JUST melt the heat and stick powder and get the Dazzling Diamonds on to it pretty quick, I like to work in sections. You can see in the photo below, that I have heated, until just melted, the top right hand corner area. Then I put the dazzling Diamonds just on that corner and brush off the excess (keeping it away from the other un-melted sections. You might find just doing half a sheet at a time easier, find your rhythm. Continue to heat, melt, glitter-ise and set until all the sheet is done.

I use my brush from the Powder Pals to brush off any extra glitter. At which point my husband gives me that look of 'you've got glitter on your face AGAIN'!
OK, and that's all there is to embossing on Acetate. I also tried using the Supernova Glitter on it, and it looks even better than the Dazzling Diamonds I think. Just that burst of colour, does it for me.

OK, now for the assembly of the container. You will need to use Sticky Strip or VERY heavy duty double sided tape. Regular double sided tape just wont cut it I'm afraid. You will want to add it to 3 sides only, trying to keep as close to the edge as possible.
Next, remove 2 of the backings from the Sticky strip, making sure one of them is the one that is opposite the side that doesn't have any adhesive. Make an L shape with the adhesive. You could remove all the backing at this stage, but It makes it easier to fill the container later if you don't.
Now, you need to roll you sheet, so that the side that doesn't have any adhesive, meets the opposite side that does. Think of it this way, its going to look like a toilet roll (but only for a few seconds).
Now with your toilet roll, I mean cylinder, squeeze the end with adhesive together to form a seal.
This is the point that you will want to add your goodies, I'm using 'Colombines', my favourite lolly/candy to eat at Christmas time (even though they are available all year round). Once they are in, you can seal your other end. Just make sure that when you are sealing the end, that you seal it in the opposite direction to the other end. This is what gives it it's unique shape.

Decorate as you like. To this one I've added ribbon to each end, and a Christmas tag care of the Curly Label Punch Bundle available in the Australian/NZ Catalogue.
**NOTE: You can choose to have the embossed glitter on the outside or the inside of the container. If you want the glitter on the outside, make sure you add your adhesive to the non embossed side. Just be aware that the glitter can flake off transparency, so if your goodies are unwrapped, like M&M's or similar, I would keep the embossing on the outside.

**ANOTHER NOTE: If you are in a hotter area, like me in the southern hemisphere at the moment, if you choose to use transparency to make one of these, I suggest making it just before you go, as the heat does tend to open up the seals. alternatively, you might like to add some brads, eyelets or stitching to keep the seals closed for longer.

Today's card is SO super easy, and doesn't really use any Christmas products (except the greeting). The paper is from the Pink Flamingo Designer Series pack.

My Christmas is all about RED!! At no other time of year can I get away with using so much red. I have added Dazzling Diamond glitter to the centre of each flower and embossed THE greeting with white embossing powder .

My theory is.....take a Christmas colour, add some glitter, some ribbon and viola, you have yourself a Christmas card! Thanks for stopping by!

12 Cards Of Christmas - Day 5

Not an ounce of green or red to be seen today. A much cooler feeling card for day 5. The colours I have used are Baja Breeze, Sahara Sand and Whisper White with the Snow Swirled stamp set (again).
I have been wanting to use acetate/transparency on a card for a while now, and this card seemed to work perfectly for it. I have used just a portion of the front card, as a window into the inside. You could use Staz-On ink to stamp on the acetate, but I have chosen to emboss with dazzling Diamonds to enhance the tree.

I have also used a half pearl from the pretties Kit and added it to the middle of my bow on the front of the card. Once you ope the card, you get the full view of the tree and the greeting.
I have made another project, (that I haven't quite finished yet), that matches this card. It will show you how I emboss on acetate. Give me a few days, and I'll have it up here for you to see.

12 Cards Of Christmas - Day 4

Technically today is not a card, but it does match yesterday's card......that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Today I'll be showing you how to make THIS.
So you ask...is it a bag, or is it a box? My reply.....Its a bag in a box! And here's how to make one for your self.

Take a piece of cardstock that measures 11.5cm x 11.5cm (4.5 inches x 4.5 inches). You need to score 2.5cm (1 inch) in from all sides. Then make a score line from each corner to the intersecting score lines you just made. (See picture below)

Next, fold all score line in towards each other and fold the corners inwards. Pretty easy so far....
Now you need to use some Sticky Strip (very strong double sided tape sold by Stampin Up) and add some to the inside of the corner sections and also somewhere on the outside of the corner points so that you can tap it to the inside of the box
See that back corner, that's what we are trying to do.
This is what it should look like when you have stick all the corners down.
Ok, now you need to cut a piece of double sided patterned paper to 28cm x 14cm (11 inches x 5.5 inches) Add Sticky Strip to one of the long sides and one of the short sides. Make sure you add the Sticky strip to the side you want facing the inside. Remove the backing from the long side, but leave the short side for now.
Now we start putting it all together. Start by sticking your paper to the middle of one of the sides of the box. It doesn't matter which side you start with.
Then wrap the paper around the bottom of the box until you get to last side before meeting the start of the paper. You now need to remove the backing from the short side of the paper.
and continue wrapping until the edges meet. Carefully seal the 2 ends of paper together.
And VOILA.....its starting to take shape. Are you all with me so far?
Next, punch out 2 round tabs, in a colour that matches your paper, and fold them in half. Use your Crop-a-Dile or a hole punch to make a hole towards the square end of the tabs (once they have been folded). Also...imagine.....because I forgot to add the photo.....that you have cut a strip of paper approx 2.5cm x 28cm (1 inch x 11 inches) to wrap around the bottom of your box, or is it a bag......ANYWAY
I used my Eyelet Border punch to make it interesting, you could do scallops, or tear you paper, or just leave it as a straight edge, its up to you. Start wrapping the from the point where the paper meets. This will make sure the end/seams of teh paper and the seams of the border are at the same place.Next, add some more sticky strip to the insides of your Tabs and stock them on, one on each side.

Thread some ribbon through the holes, and there you have it......a BOX in a BAG, or is it a BAG in a BOX? You decide!

I will be moving away from the red and green colours soon, just incase you were getting sick of them already

12 Cards of Christmas - Day 3

Hello again! Another day, another Christmas card. Day 3 uses some of the huge amount of stuff left over from my 'I wish' Simply Scrappin Kit. I've also used one of the stamps from the Snow Swirled stamp set.
This card was definitely inspired by THIS card I saw some time ago. We didn't have some of the products available, so I have substituted with what was available from the current catalogue.

I used the Love Notes Envelopes and covered them in paper from the I wish Simply Scrappin Kit. I unfolded/unglued one of the envelopes and used this a template to cover the envelope. I'll keep this unglued one in my pack so I can use it in the future.

I've also used one of the new Old Olive Buttons from the Playground Button pack. I have then used some Crystal Effects, filled the centre and poured some Superfine Glitter to give the card a bit of bling. I have also clear embossed the sentiment, but you cant tell from the photo.

12 Cards Of Christmas - Day 2

Ok so we are at Day 2 of the Christmas Card parade. This is another quick card that we made as part of a workshop. This uses my favourite Christmas set 'Season Of Joy'. This is a great card if you are making lots of them, as it doesn't involve a lot of cardstock.

You can't see it on the first photo, or very well on this next photo, but I have used Versamark to ink the word block stamp that comes with this set. I've done this before inking the trees and flourish so that it would show through the trees.

This is the stamps included in the set. I love it because its so versatile. You can achieve so many different look with this, many you will be seeing over the next 11 days.

So its officially December and only 24 more sleeps til Christmas! Whoo Hoo! My Christmas Tree is up, although still needing a few bit and pieces, but I'm liking it....except that I don't like the actual tree itself. But I 'promise' myself that this will be the last year we use it.
A few of you may have already seen this card, as we made it during a workshop.
I used the 'Snow Swirled' stamp set, which will be going to good use over the next 12 days. Once I had made this, I wasn't sure why I didn't use Kiwi Kiss for the Tree and Real Red for the 'star'. But I still like the way it turned out. You may not be able to see it quite well, but I have punched out the smaller 'star' and added some superfine glitter, then popped a dimensional on the back to give it some life.

My first card uses the new 'I {Heart} Hearts' stamp set and also the new button colours on offer, Playground. I love that this set co-ordinates with both heart punches Stampin Up already have available. Make for a really simple and quick card

The next card makes use of the new 'Butterfly Prints' and the new co-ordinating Butterfly Punch. I love butterflies and glitter, so this card was fun to make.

To add a bit more texture, I used the flourish from the Season Of Joy set, and used my paper piercer to add holes where the dots were. Just a small detail that add just the right amount of interest.
Now this card uses the Like-O-Meter single stamp. This is a great stamp becuase you can use it to connvey at least 9 different messages. I have decided to go with 'I'd marry you again' sentiment, but if there isn't a greeting on there that doesnt suit (I find it hard to belive though lol) you could use your markers to colour the messages, omit one of them, and fill in your own personalised message. This is a card to make for someone who perhaps just doesnt quite get the hint :)

and FINALLY, my last project I want to share with you is the new Sweet Treat Cups, Something Sweet stamp set and the new BIG 1 3/4 inch Circle Punch. This is going to be a set that I'm going to have lots of fun with. Instead of using the co-ordinating stamp set, I've used the Pick a Petal set to create a flower. So many possibilities with these cups. You could run with this idea, but on a smaller scale, to use a name place tags, or baby shower decorations, favours, anything really.

Simply Scrappin Christmas Cards

I just wanted to quickly share with you how easy it is to create a whole bunch of Christmas cards this year. I have used the "I Wish' Simply Scrappin Kit from Stampin Up. The kits do differ from country to country, but still you can get the same quick, and effective result.

These are just a SMALL selection of possibilities that can be created from the kit. I have made 8 cards and 2 gift tags, and still have AT LEAST three quarters of the kit left!!!!! Its amazing just how far these kits go. This is what you get in the 'I wish' Kit:

-: 6 sheets of patterned paper (3 each of design)
-: 8 sheets of 12x12 inch textured cardstock (2 of each colour)

I'm not totally in love or happy with this card. I think its the Kraft background that is throwing me. And the placement of the sentiment. BUT...its is a card, and I haven't had a huge opportunity to sit down and make anything lately.

Rewind a Few Weeks

A few weeks ago, I traveled into the city for a Stampin Up training day. It was such a great day, and I came away with so many ideas to share with you all. At any Stampin Up get together some of the demonstrators make a batch of cards to swap with other demonstrators. I knew I was short on time and didn't think I would be able to manage making any. But then I thought of all the idea's I would be getting by swapping. SO....... I re-created a quick card I made not that long ago. My swap is below but you can fin the original card HERE.
I didn't quite get around to all the tables to swap all of my cards, but that's good news for you! If you would like to receive one of these card fronts with a list of the materials I have used on the back............all you need to do is leave a comment letting me know what you are doing for your Christmas Cards this year. CASE a card

My lovely Upline (the one who signed me up to Stampin Up) sent me THIS card from one of their team meetings. Since she lives in Sydney, its a little hard for me to get there. I loved it for two reasons......1) it uses my 2 of my favourite products from the Spring Mini Catalogue (Great friend stamp set and the Scallop Oval punch) and 2) Marelle always makes beautiful cards.
I wanted to use as many of the items from the Spring Mini before they end on November 30, and this card got my juices going. Not that I didn't love the colours she used, I was just in a mood to use blue. My original thoughts for this card was to use Baja Breeze, but it was too light when I got to the last butterfly......SO, I have used Not Quite Navy Instead.

To get this effect, ink the butterfly image and stamp it towards the top of the card. Then without re-inking your stamp again, stamp another butterfly image slightly lower thann the last one, and then again once more without re-inking. My suggestion, if you want to make this card, it to use a dark colour as this gives the best result.

To make the stitching, all you need to do it use the Stampin Up Mat Pack. It has a template to make a straight line of holes with a paper piercer. Then all you do it take your white gel pen a connect the dots. Faux stitching at its easiest!

For the greeting I stamped the whole image in Baja Breeze ink then used my Not Quite Navy marker to re-colour the 'Best Wishes' section. You can re-colour any image that is lighter than the marker colour you want to use.

Since I had the set out, I figured I might as well just make another card using the tree.......its was such a hard decision to keep stamping lol.

I actually stamped the whole tree in Certainly Celery (the lighter colour in the leaves), and used my markers to colour the trunk with Chocolate Chip and some of the other leaves in Old Olive. Because Certainly Celery is a lighter colour than Chocolate Chip, I had no problems colouring over it with the marker. I used both ends of the marker, the brush tip and journaling tips, to colour the trunk. Some of the higher branches are quite fine and the brush tip would have coloured the leaves.

And since i had my Pretties Kit out, I added a few more of the half pearls. You could have easily just added a bow or a knot in their place. I also used some of the Certainly Celery ribbon that was FREE last month. But there is a new promotion this month that I will post about either later today or tomorrow for you :)

Sympathetic Monochromatic Monday

It's been a while since I have done a monochromatic card, and I really like how this has turned out. I didn't plan to have make this all brown tones, I did originally have some navy in place of the Chocolate Chip Cardstock. But since my desk is somewhat....how should I put it.....crazily messy, I happened to have some scraps of chocolate chip near by, and suddenly my colour pallete changed. This is also the first time I have used this stamp set 'Thoughts & Prayers' and cant wait to use the other tree from the set.

I've have used the flowers from the Boho Punch in place of the actual stamped flowers that are part of the stamp. I then added some Very Vanilla half pearls from the pretties kit. I also used close to cocoa and creamy caramel markers to give the leaves different shades.

On a happier note, I've just reached 10,000 hits on my blog! I know in the scheme of the world wide web my little blog is....little......but thanks to everyone who visits and especially those that leave comments, it really makes my day :) Once my supplies are unpacked from our move, I'll be doing a giveway in appeciation to you all!

My Scrap Room

WARNING ...this post is a little long

My scrap area/space/room or whatever you like to call it has gone though so many different transformations over the years. It has ranged from a table in a spare room, to the kitchen table, to a trolley on wheels, to under the kitchen bench to what I have now.....a WHOLE ROOM! let me give the run down.......

The room I am in now was Isabelle's baby room. We had kept the walls neutral and used the baby decor to add colour. She has since now moved to her 'Pink Big Girl' room, suddenly I have no more excuses not to use this room for my own good. I don't think my hubby even got a look in when I said I had plans for the room lol.

So this photo is taken from the door, and yes I know it does look a little plain and uninteresting at the moment, but it's all part of the transition from my last area....under the kitchen bench. You could call it my asylum, my white (un-padded) room.

These cube boxes were inspired by the ones at Ikea, and when my house grows up it wants to have lots of them. Hubby actually built these ones to custom fit the space under the kitchen bench. The black boxes hold 'most' of my scrapbooking supplies. I've got things like Ribbon, chipboard, stamps, ink, paint and a dedicated tool box in the boxes. The other 4 spaces has my cardstock, albums, and some magazines. The sheer boxes on top hold my patterned paper, unfinished projects, rub-ons and stickers. The framed scrapbook layout can be found HERE and the mini book HERE. They are 2 of my most favorite projects at the moment, so I like to have them out for me to see and put a smile on my face.

This is my ribbon box (the only one that's organised at the moment...eek). Its my favourite box because I love looking at all the colours.

This is my laptop, to the right I have my OTTE LITE (Thanks Melany). This has been a life saver from my horrible lighting. you can read more about how OTT LITES work HERE. I also keep my most recent card I have made sitting on top of my laptop before I put it away in my sample box. It serves two purposes, 1) gives me time to change my mind (not always a good thing lol) and 2) to enjoy what I've made and perhaps be inspired to make something else. You can see the card HERE. I also have 2 Basic Grey Magnetic self healing cutting mats. One you can see and the other is under the laptop. I use these more when I am scrapbooking.

To the left, I have my basket of goodies. I keep pens, pencils, my bone folder, camera cable, notepad, and usually my camera ends up in here too. Its my go-to basket, stuff that I am constantly using. My mobile phone is always close by too.

On the wall I have my Stampin Up punches. They are being held up by some Ikea rack things and for the life of me I can't think of the name of them. I also have Stampin Up ribbons, markers, adhesive, scissors and things that I use on almost every card/project I use making Stampin Up products. My heat tool is hanging from a hook on the window.

Then we have the built in robe which holds all my stamp sets. I'm hoping that my husband isn't looking at this lol. I've also got my sample box, magazines, and below is a whole bunch of other scrappy things, but its a little scary at the moment, so this is as far as you get to see lol.

My space is always evolving. Right now it needs some colour, a little but of life and thats something that I'll always be working on. But for now it suits me, calm and soothing lol.

I think the most important thing about whatever space you have, whether it be big or small......is that it works for YOU. It doesn't matter if your friends uses a particular system, or a famous scrapper says this is the way to do it; make your space work for you! And that's all I have to say about that :)

A Late Monochromatic Monday

So, does anyone remember THESE cards? Someone should have yelled out that I forgot the wallet I made! So anyway, this is the quick wallet I made, and when I find the link to the template I used, will update the post for you.

I wanted to keep the design similar to the cards, so I just made it the same with a few extras like the glitter and the greeting in a cut out shape.

This is inside. You can't see it that well but the cards are inside their own little box.

And this is the back, the small flap holds it all closed.

Two Elite Challenges In One Card

I really love this months challenges from the Elite Challenge Blog. This month the Stamp set challenge is a new set from the Spring Mini Catalogue. It called 'Great Friend' and it's my favourite from the mini catalogue. This is the stamps from the set:

SO......I decided to combine the two challenges and create this card:
I did originally have all 3 butterflies in Regal Rose, but decided while I was taking the photos, that one of them needed to be a different colour. I did try using So Saffron, but it seemed a little washed out. I think the Kiwi Kiss works well. I also had all of the butterflies wings curled up but decided just to keep the focus on the centre butterfly and only curl those ones.

So here's my question to all you who read my blog:

I'm became an Aunty again yesterday morning! My Big Little Sister (big meaning older, and little meaning shorter) gave birth to a beautiful baby BOY at 4:28am and weighing a not so tiny 10 pound 7 ounces! I give it to you Jamie, Well Done!

The new, not so little man, doesn't have a name yet but I couldn't resist making a card anyway. I need a card for our next door neighbours anyway whose present has been sitting on the table for quite a while now!

Finally, I have been able to use the new Corduroy Buttons from the Spring Mini Catalogue.

I've simply just used a bit of Stampin Up's hemp Twine, tied a knot and trimmed the edges. I juts love the feel of these buttons. They also come in Basic Gray and Kiwi Kiss. You also get 2 sizes of brads in the same material in the pack. LOVE IT!

Keep you eye out as there will probably be some more baby cards once we have a name so I can make it more personal for them

Do You Watercolour?

I do not watercolour.....but let me re-phrase that.......I didn't watercolour, until I got this stamp set. It's called Fifth Avenue Floral and it's officially been added to the 'Sandy's Top 5 Stamp Set' list. I have seen so many different styles from using this set. Versatility is what I like in a stamp set. I don't know that it has a great watercolour look about it, I might have to practice a little, but I had fun making it!

You can never have too many roses....uuhhmm did you hear that my lovely husband?

A Masculine Sneak Peek

I don't even know if I have done a masculine card before? Pink is my comfort zone lol. This is also another sneak peek of stamp set from the new Spring Mini catalogue. The set is called 'Sense of Time', it includes this large clock, a smaller cog set and 2 sentiments. I have also used some of the new Jumbo Brads in silver. And I almost forgot, I have used patterned cardstock from the new Parisian Breeze pack. I cant wait to use this cardstock on more projects, its SO nice.

I've inked the clock slightly, to give it a distressed/old look about it. Don't know if I've achieved that look, but its there anyway lol. I've also punched out the inner section of the clock to give the card more dimension.

Here's another card for Christmas In July. Thought I would have a go at reverse masking and love how this card turned out. And better yet, it's simple and quick to make. Again I have used my favourite Christmas set, Season Of Joy, I just can't get enough of it.

I've been a bit slack with my blog updates over the 2 weeks hopefully I can get back to more regular posts during the week.

I wanted to show the 6 In-Colours Stampin Up has to offer during the 2009-2010 Catalogue and what better way than to create a set. So up in the top left-right we have Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, and Kiwi Kiss and the bottom row left to right we have Tangerine Tango, Riding Hood Red, and Pacific Point.

Now for those who are wondering what set that butterfly and phrase comes from, its not from the current catalogue. BUT, it does come from the new Mini Catalogue that starts on August 1st!
